St Dwynwen,s Day - 25th January - The Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers.

During the 5th century Dwynwen fell in love with Prince Maelon Dafodrill but her father had betrothed her to another. Upset she begged God to make her forget him. Having fallen asleep, an angel visited Dwynwen, erasing her memory of Maelon & turned him to ice. God gave Dwynwen three wishes: her first was for Maelon to be thawed, her second that God meet the hopes and dreams of true lovers and her third that she should never marry. As a mark of her thanks Dwynwen founded a convent on Llandwyn, Anglesey. Remains of Dwynwen's church can still be seen today.
